The Circle Game

Does anyone else know the circle game? I know it's not just a regional thing, because when cleints visited my workplace from Georgia, they fell for it.

If you're not sure what I'm talking about; it's this:

If you look at that, and it is below waste level of the person showing the circle; you get punched in the arm. If you manage to break the circle before getting punched, the punch is negated and you get to punch them. It's a great game. Came from 4th grade, I think.

I've been throwing it out and random and looking for the tell-tale signs that someone knows the game (they look at the circle and then hang their head in shame, extending the arm so that I can hit it).

So anyway, do you know this game? Do you play it? Any variations on the rules that you use?

What is it with you taking me back to 6th grade today? Yeah, I admit to playing from elementary school on up to early adulthood. People quit playing it around me because I took it too seriously. One of my bosses wanted to show how cool he was with his employees and started playing it with us. I loved frogging him as hard as I could.

Yeah, I played it. Somehow it died out after elementary school though, but it tried to make a comeback a few years ago.

DEP - i think it's waist level, not waste level. you confused me for a minute there.

Actually, when you mentioned 6th grade this was what I thought of. It didn't seem appropriate for that thread so I put it over here.

Didn't learn the game till we watched "Malcolm in the middle", but then my kids were constantly beating the crap out of each other after that.

I forgot about that game...I am gonna play it next weekend when my daughter comes up from College!! ha ha!

The last job I used to have we played all the time. I don't remember who started it but everyone was playing.

* I still have the urge to play but stranger don't really understand what the circle is or why you are hitting them.

Where are you guys from (approximately)? I'm curious as to how widespread this is... I know Tom is from Texas and Trauma is from Ohio; what about the rest of you that play this?

I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU POSTED THIS!

I (re)started the circle game at the uni the day before yesterday (we're all in our mid-twenties...), and have received (and sent) several e-mails with pics of fingers attached since. We also do it in real life, but decided only yesterday that we'd better stop it before it got too annoying...

It went on, so far.

BTW: Germany. Wiiidespread.
