The year is 1101. A new land mass has been discovered somewhere to the Southwest. Your people have attempted to lay claim to the land and have set up a small village on the coast. They are asking for people to travel over to the New World, to settle and conquer the land; and you have decided to join them.

But what will you bring with you? The answer to that question can be found in here, if you have not yet answered the question and wish to participate in this adventure, please go over there and answer it first. You will not be permitted to travel on the longboat if you haven’t selected your five items. (don’t even try and edit your comment over there, I’ve already copied and saved your comments to a word document. Those of you who wish to play, but didn’t take the first thread seriously will have to deal with whatever Moe and I give you for replacement items.)

The ships will leave with four plimates aboard. What this means is, four at a time can join the adventure. I will write in the “arrival” of you and your shipmates, and until that point you cannot do anything except chill out on the longboat.

A few notes before we start.

There will be two “moderators” in this game, myself and Moe (but hey we’re the same person so this shouldn’t add to any confusion).

You cannot control NPCs (non-player-characters) – in other words, you can attack Sven, but only I (or Moe) can tell you if you hit.

No hyper posting – Dammit, Moe and I can’t be everywhere all the time. Post your action and wait to find out what happens. Dialogue is a free action, so feel free to talk or plan s**t with other people, but don’t run from point A to point B and back without Moe or I acknowledging what happens. After all, there could be something that pops out in the middle of your journey.

Your character might die. It happens. Sorry, but it’s nothing personal.

You are more likely to die if you hyper-post (see above), power post (going all god-mode and s**t), or become inactive.

No killing off your fellow plimates (just in case Moe gave anyone any ideas from last time).

Unlike the last one, no tricks... Join if you want to play, don't join if you don't want to.

Well, I've got my 5 items(I would bring a sword, a smaller knife, armor, a shield, and a utility knife. :D), I'll go in the longboat, and wait for other Plimates to join. :)

OK Jerry, well you look at your stuff and see:

1. Short sword
2. a Viking Sax dagger:

3. Some leather armor
4. A round shield with a nice metal boss on the front (FYI, a shield boss is a large round metal blister mounted to the center of the shield)
5. A wooden bucket. You must have left the utility knife home and you don't have time to go get it

2. Buffalo skin long coat
3. my seeing eye eagle....

Nunkii you meet up with Jerry. You have with you:

1) Seeds for carrots, parsnips and cabbage. The stuff you wanted didn't exist where you are in 1101

2) A knife - you also have a Sax dagger

3) No compass...the Chinese had not yet told us about it. So instead you have...a locking wooden box with key. Vikings loved this sort of thing.

4) Soap - you have about a month's worth of lye soap

5) Clothes

2. Muslin tunic underwear and heavy cloth tunic overclothes

Did I mention that this dude looks a LOT like DEP/Moe? Cuz he does. Not you MBK, the guy in the picture. I suppose you can look like him if you want to.

BTW I know that this is placed in 1101 and the Viking Era was pretty much over after 1066 (The Year Of The Horrible Darkness That Engulfed The Entire Earth), but let's just say you guys are the last bastion of Vikingness in the world. So don't screw up.

1: Suebesdottir - your betrothed. NOT Suebe, but a distant ancestor. She will be an NPC and thus controlled by me or DEP at all times. This does NOT preclude Suebe (the Plimate) from playing this game, so I gave the NPC a reasonable Viking name so we could tell them apart.
2: Live pig named Jerry
3: 55 gallons of home made mead (in a large barrel)
4: About 10 fortune telling stones carved with runes
5: extra underwear

All a go except for the buffalion. Instead, you have painted a picture of DEP's Mom Thor's face on the shield.

5) Hat with horns on it - You step out of your house to go to the boats, and are immediately struck by lightning. Your hat burns to ashes and your lamb stomach is cooked well done. So much for contraceptives, but at least you have something to eat....so what you arrive at the boats with is:

3) Cooked Stomach of a lamb (for eating)
4) Singed Wool blanket
5) No hair

OK at this point we have at least 2 boats going. I am going to have you all wait until tomorrow before we get under way. Time goes really really slowly for a bit now. When we pick up again, only about 10 minutes will have passed since SEG showed up with the cooked lamb stomach.

He looks like us, because that's our dad. Back when he had hair.

I'm here for the longboat trip but I'm pretty sure that I'm one of the ones who didn't take the Viking thread seriously.

OK DL, you arrive at the boats. Your list of stuff you wanted to bring was all 20th century....which was specifically NOT allowed!

3. Something extremely rare and wondrous: a book of the Håvamål written on skins. The Håvamål is a collection of poetry written by the Vikings that included in it, Odin's advice to mankind. I suggest that you make use of these pages (the page turn link is at the top left corner of the link). Your personage is one who would quote lines from the Håvamål in various circumstances. It would be nice if you would do that from time to time on this adventure.
