Good for him. Thank you Montel for saying this! What a great thing to do, he really stuck his neck out there to do what was right.

I love that after every thing Montel says, he gets interupted to for us to hear "We're talking with Montel Williams right now about a situation that's going on...Heath Ledger."

Where does Fox find these people??????

It's not only that he paid tribute to the soldiers that was utterly awesome to me, but also the way he addressed Heath Ledgers death when they asked him about it; "He was someone's child and my heart goes out to his parents." Very respectable, very noble. And then he went right back into the war.

They tried to regain control and ask him about one of them, hoping to bait him; but he followed through well with what details he had.

Much respect to Montel.

I met Montel once while stationed in Catania, Sicily..I was a helicopter tech (AT) in the navy, and my squadron (HC-4 Black Stallions) were based there. Our purpose was to service the ships in the Mediteranean with supplies, mail etc., and to provide transportation for whomever might be going to, or leaving these ships while at sea...Montel (Who was an officer in the Navy himself *edit* at one point) was on some kind of tour for the USO, and was going to fly on one of our Helo`s to his next destination...ANYhooo...he was going around signing cranials (that strange looking headgear you see the enlisted men wearing on Top Gun while they`re on the flight deck), and he signed mine, said something I don`t remember now, and moved on.

I guess since he announced his retirement, he doesn't feel the need to play the media game any more.

I knew he had it in him.

So all of you are falling for Montels load of horsecrap. He's as much of a whore as the ones he's pointing his fingers at. When asked "OK, lets talk about those who died this month in Iraq." his response was "I looked but couldn't find any information about them."

what's this whole war thing you guys are talking about?

* I kid.

If I ever see Montel in person he is getting a ^5. I never watched his show and really don't know anything about him but that was pretty cool and DEP is right how he stayed with his point and at the same time was respectful of Heath Ledger and his family.

Regardless of the level of horsecrap he was still putting light on the war and the issue of how the media is almost totally ignoring it. Global Securities is a great site BTW. Tons of solid info on all kinds of stuff.

I completely get it pulsisX, he didn't say anything that millions haven't said from the very day Heath died...TM brought it up on the very day the story came to plime. I just think he tried to make himself look superior to the contrived hype of the media, a type of hype he himself has been part of for many years, and when he was called to task he lied and looked like a hypocrite. Montel is a nice guy I'm sure, but they gave him the perfect opportunity to talk about what he was so passionate about and he blew it... seams to me that the tables were actually flipped on him.

I was also struck by hoosker's comment. If Montel's full of horsecrap, then what he said was horsecrap. So it sounds like you're ignoring the message because of the messenger? That's how you're coming off anyway. Fox fired him because he took the stand he did. Sure, it's because he took the stand on the same network he worked for and because he used ambush tactics and made them look foolish, but the tactic worked. The message was that much more powerful and it's getting attention. He took a stand for his convictions.

Sorry hoosker, you and I completely disagree on this one.

the internet is totally different then TV, we are avalible to much more here. The TV is such a good device to though, because of the broad audience, which doesn't have the time or the inclination to look up something on a subject they would otherwise be uneducated about. And because not everyone is willing/smart enough to type www.google.com and actually look at something that they might be interested in -- If they knew they could find it.

People that aren't so computer savy, dont seem to have much patience to look up something that doesn't scream out and tell them they will be interested in 'insert topic here'.

Patience is a Virtue.
