Posted: 2 months ago by sidran32: My problem with this (if it was in the US, anyway) is the fact that those that get registered as sex offenders aren't always legitimately sex offenders. Sometimes it's an 18 year old that had sex with his/her 17 year old partner. But since that's statutory rape, they end up on the sex offender list. It's happened multiple times here. i can't entirely recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it because i could barely get through it myself. it's very, very, very...disturbing. however, it's also very thought provoking. it definitely bent my mind when it came to the thought of castrating pedophiles.

I thought this was a really fantastic, thought provoking movie. And I love how they say so much with showing so little - really not a graphic film at all, just the psychological effects it creates.

Pedofiles almost aren't humans ... so they shouldn't have all human rights.

What constitutes 'sexually deviant behavior'? IF they were all pedophiles, maybe it's relevant, but it was THAT long ago where homosexuality was classified as 'sexually deviant behavior'.
Either way...Half of them won't rape again. I'm sure that a half-raped child will think that's not significant enough a number.

Agreed. It bothers me immensely that paedophilia and sex offenders have become 21st century witch hunting.
I'm in no way defending or supporting sex offenders, but as a supporter of basic human rights, I think it's sick and twisted to see a violation of these rights celebrated as a 'victory' so that someone can get or keep a seat in public office.
I personally think chemical castration should be an option left open for people to choose, or perhaps even suggested or recommended by health care professionals to some sex offenders, but I think mandatory treatment is wrong. Score: [-] 215 [+]. <12>
