An Australian woman who spent more than 60 years in an iron lung to treat polio has died at the age of 83. June Middleton entered the Guinness World Book of Records in 2006 as the person who has spent the longest time in an iron lung. An American woman hs also been in an irong lung for 60 years.

Not sure I would agree that she "lost her battle" She lived to 83. I think she gave polio quite a run for it.

I think she means JUST keeping her alive with no thought of quality of life.

Also, I hate how they always call it a battle when someone is dying a slow death. Stop fighting and make the best of it. That's probably what this lady did too.
