An invention called 'the Jewish people'
An invention called 'the Jewish people'
Israel states that the Jewish people arose in the Land of Israel and was exiled from its homeland. Schoolchildren are taught that this happened during the period of Roman rule, in 70 CE. The nation remained loyal to its land, to which it began to return after two millennia of exile. Wrong, says the historian Shlomo Zand. There never was a Jewish people, only a Jewish religion, and the exile also never happened. Zand rejects most of the stories of national-identity formation in the Bible, including the exodus from Egypt and, most satisfactorily, the horrors of the conquest under Joshua. It's all fiction and myth that served as an excuse for the establishment of the State of Israel, he asserts. picked by 2manyusernames 6 months ago

You can be an anti-Semite and still not be racist...
Sorry for down voting you but I always find that joke tasteless and crude.

How the heck can you make an assumption like that?

Is it just that anyone who doesn't believe every story told in the bible, every claim made by the Jewish people is true is a anti-semitic who doesn't believe in the Holocaust?

Finding the story of Joshua, the stopping of the sun (forgetting astronomical facts), God making it possible for him to conquer the city of Jericho with horns (although even god took 7 days to make the walls susceptible to the blast of horns, must have been some really solid walls) unbelievable is simply common sense and a knowledge of science. That hardly equals a disbelief in the Holocaust.

Heck there is a decent chance that Shlomo Zand had relatives who died during the holocaust.

Also, as mentioned others have had his theories before him. Others such as David Ben-Gurion, the first Prime Minister of Israel. Perhaps you assume he doesn't believe in the Holocaust either.

Oh you people. I have no problem with Jews or black people or any other race. Simply you people need to get over yourself. People died, that was the past. We move on, this is called comic relief. Seriously, lighten up.

Tell that to my grandfather. He had night-terrors, depression, and the scars of war that lasted a lifetime after WWII.

But I'm sure if he were still alive (he passed away last year), I'm sure he'd find you very funny. Sure, he relived it in his mind every single day of his life... but, it happened so long ago, how could he not just "move on?"

So tell me, have you ever lost a friend, parent, grandparent, relative, sibling? Cause I've got some funny jokes I'm sure you'd appreciate.

Based on the Holocaust website, I was able to link my family tree right back to Tola, the son of Issachar (one of the 12 tribes).

My great-grandfather traces back to a famous Rabbi who has a well-documented family tree tracing back to Issachar.

From there, it is a simple process to trace my family tree directly back to Adam and Eve.

After doing this family tree linking me back to Tola, I found out that my grandfather was born in a region of Russia which was known, at the turn of the century, as Tola.

How's that for proof? My great-grandfather was a wealthy landowner in the Tola region of Russia.

Also, all of my family who are still in Israel live in the region which was orginally assigned to the tribe of Issachar.

The Tola family of Issachar were known as great scholars, great businessmen, and fierce warriors when called to defend themselves.
