A Saudi woman activist marked this year's International Women's Day by defying a ban on women driving in the ultra-conservative kingdom and posted a video of her act on YouTube.

More than 1,100 Saudi men and women signed a petition to King Abdullah urging him to lift the controversial ban on women driving.

Not allowed to drive a car? I can't even imagine that! I get in the car and go where ever I need to go. I don't need permission and I don't need a man to escort me. Again I am grateful I live where I do.
