South African AIDS patients in Durban are under siege from drug addicts who rob them of their antiretroviral treatment to get high, the provincial health department said Wednesday.

"The concoction of Stocrin and dagga (marijuana) is very dangerous and eventually leads to death. The drug mixture breaks down the immune system and reduces the resistance of the body," said Anwar Jeewa, director of the Minds Alive rehabilitation centre.
The drug to treat HIV breaks down the immune system and leads to death? This must be some kind of paradoxical effect when used with the weed, or a lie.

Don't they know that just plain weed makes you high? Is South Africa related to Florida or what?

that does sound pretty odd....that sounds like the opposite effect you would need to deal with AIDS.

only reason i could think of why they add the HIV drugs to the weed, is to make it much more potent. though, if that's the case, then i'd like to know why they just leave the infected people alone and just get heroin or some other harder drug.
