Zimbabwe To Issue 100 Billion Dollar Note
Zimbabwe To Issue 100 Billion Dollar Note
The official inflation rate in Zimbabwe is running at 2,200,000%. In response to what this means to the prices of standard goods on shelves the Zimbabwean Treasury has announced they will be printing a one billion dollar bill.

This would probably buy two loaves of bread. picked by pocksucket 1 month ago

TV show Who Wants To Be A Millionaire isn't really very popular in Zimbabwe.

At least it buys food, it seems that they have real problems with getting food over there.

Sad truth is that it won't even buy one loaf of bread.

Well yeah, now.

I posted it 17 hours ago. It would have been 2 loaves then.

17 hours is a long time when inflation is running at 2.2million percent.

Sell the notes on eBay, I'm sure loads of people would love to have 100 billion dollar notes just for the novelty.

I travelled to Zim a couple times about 10 years ago -- when the exchange rate was around $13 Zim to $1 US.

I saved a couple low $ bills as souveniers. Looking back at them, it's really hard to believe they're worth nothing now, and it saddens me to see how much has changed there in such a short time.
