I'm not even all the way through all the photos yet, and I have to say that they are definitely amazing!

I know all the controversy about China hosting the Olympic Games, but really, the Olympics are supposed to be a neutral ground for all countries to participate in, equally. I, for one, am looking forward to the opening of these Olympics and watching them. I love Chinese architecture and culture, and am curious as to what they will be featuring when the games actually start.

It's sad, that the Chinese Gov't has seen fit to displace over 10,000 people to build these scars on the face of Beijing. A city so rich in history is an ill place to build these hyper-modern structures. This combined with China's actions in tibet and Darfur have made this the time in my life that I have held such dislike to an event so honorable and pure as the Olympics.

I didn't really agree with your comment when I first read it, about half way through the photos. I mean, sure, it's steeped in history, but they're not exactly tearing down the Forbidden City. In contrast to the expansive pollutive industrial areas these admittedly quite ugly structures (except the Egg) will look fantastic, I'm sure. However, now I've reached the bottom five pictures I do indeed agree. I hadn't realised exactly to what extent this was occuring.

I shudder to think what UK Gov't might have to do to out-do this Chinese pomp in four years.

Although I view the Olympics as just another boring sports event, which has had far too much political importance in the past, these pictures are amazing.....they shouldn't force the sex shop to hide it's true nature though.

I will not be watching or supporting these games. China has promised to be more open to the human rights of its people but has not upheld this promise. They restrict travel and occupants to 'good' citizens around the city that the stadium where the olympics are being held. If you try to protest or draw attention to the way China mistreats certain people they arrest you and take you to a citizen retraining camp. You will not hear about this on most media publications and that is sad. Falun Gong practitioners are discriminated against daily and it happens here in the United States.
