Swedish straw goat burnt in violent Christmas tradition ...again!
Swedish straw goat burnt in violent Christmas tradition ...again!
Each year the people of Gavle build a 43-foot-tall straw goat, a traditional Scandinavian symbol of Christmas. But since the yuletide tradition began in the central Swedish city of Gavle in 1966, it has also drawn vandals, who have torched the animal 23 times since it was first set up to mark the holiday season. picked by Bornbad 11 months ago

Not nice to burn the Scandinavian symbol of Christmas, really.

But doesn't something made of straw just scream "light me"?

My mother has a bunch of these - none that big, though. They're called "Julebukk" in Norwegian. Straw ornaments are very common in Scandinavian countries. I have a bunch too.
