They're called pavements.  And in the UK it's perfectly legal to park on them.  Provided you're not blocking the pavement, it often makes more sense than blocking the road.<br/><br/><div class='qp pad d'><a class="page-dull td" href="/wtf-/l/62090/1/#q5"><b>&laquo;</b></a>&nbsp;<i><b>Fizz71</b> : Man....All of those years I wasted learning how to parallel park without hitting the curb...All I had to do was move to Manchester!</i></div>Just moving to Britain should be enough, but you'll still find the parallel parking useful.  Parking on the pavement just shifts things over by a few feet.
